We recently caught up with Sherin – an Indian nurse who relocated to Harlow (near London) in April 2017 to work as a Staff Nurse at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. Sherin shares her recruitment and relocation experience below.

My name is Sherin Samuel. I am a Staff Nurse at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust in Harlow. I moved to Harlow in April, 2017 from Punjab, India.

I work in the Lister Ward which is an elderly medical/dementia ward and I am really enjoying working in this hospital. The hospital is 500 bedded, providing a comprehensive range of acute and specialist services to the local population. My colleagues are so accommodating and welcoming. They helped to get adjusted to the new working environment. The best thing about this hospital is that people working here are so warm-hearted that they always greet you with a smile on their face.

During my journey from India till reaching here in Harlow KCR were really helpful to me from the beginning of the recruitment process. They helped me prepare for my interview by providing me with information related to the hospital and some sample questions likely to be asked during the interview. They have also supported me with my NMC registration. KCR helped me with each stages of NMC registration. I cleared my OSCE in the month of August 2017 and now I am a fully registered nurse in the UK.

I am having a good time in Harlow. The town is quiet and a lovely place to live in. People in this town are quite pleasant and welcoming. The most interesting thing living here is its close to London, half an hour journey in the train. So during the off days you can visit lots of places in London and all around England.  Moving away from my hometown was quite a challenge for me but the people around here has helped me  to get adjusted to this place. And now I can happily say that I am really enjoying my stay in Harlow.

If you are thinking about moving to UK to work as a Staff Nurse I would really recommend it as there are lots of career opportunities here. Get in touch with the Kate Cowhig International Healthcare Recruitment team – they will help you every step of the way! Once again I would like to thank the whole KCR team for giving me this opportunity to work here in England. Thank you guys.
