About The Trust:

Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust was established as an NHS Trust in 1992. It provides local elective and emergency services to approximately 380,000 people living in and around the districts of Chelmsford, Maldon and Braintree. The Trust also provides a county-wide plastics, head and neck and upper gastrointestinal (GI) surgical service to a population of 3.4 million and a supra regional burns service to a population of 9.8 million.

Around 5,000 staff are employed by the Mid Essex NHS Trust and in November 2010 the Trust opened the PFI funded hospital wing. .

The Trust, based in the heart of Essex, and the main site is Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford which has been redeveloped as part of a £148m Private Finance Initiative (PFI). The site now houses one of the best Accident and Emergency services in the UK and the internationally renowned regional burns and plastic centre known as St Andrew’s.

Braintree Community Hospital takes care of day surgery, diagnostic tests, rehabilitation and many more medical services.  If you need to be treated for a hernia, require a CT or MRI scan, have eye treatment or physiotherapy, Braintree can offer you excellent care and attention.

Broomfield Hospital is located in Chelmsford so it is ideally placed for access to both London and Stansted.

All You Need to Know About Essex

Essex is an English county that forms part of North East London, the county town is Chelmsford. Essex boarders Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Kent, Hertfordshire and of course London meaning you can be in the England’s capital in just a matter of minutes, 30 minutes to be exact.

In fact, traveling from Essex to London couldn’t be easier, you can get their by train or bus using either the London Liverpool Street station in central London or even the Olympic Park station at Stratford. Stansted, Southend and Harwich International Port are also within a comfortable distance from Essex and offer direct links to London Liverpool Street so getting to Essex from over seas is nice and straight forward.

London Stansted Airport is just 25 minutes by car from Essex or even less if you take the train direct from Stansted (find more details and plan your journey on the London Stansted Airport Website). You also have the option of using the airport’s own bus and coach services which can connect you to Essex for around £5!

The county of Essex offers a huge, diverse range of things to see and do. If you like the outdoors then there is the county’s gently rolling landscapes speckled with picturesque towns and villages, many of which have inspired a range of well-known artists and gardeners to work their magic. There are also many gardens, country parks and nature reserves that are all well worth a visit. On top of countryside there is also the county’s vast coastline, stretching to 350 miles long.

If being outdoors isn’t your thing though, then Essex also boasts some of the finest country homes and stately residences in the UK such as Audley End House and Ingatestone Hall to name only a couple, which are definitely worth making the time to see.

Of course being so close to London, shopping, cinema, theatre, bars, clubs, pubs and restaurants are all on your doorstep too so there will never be a dull moment. As if all this wasn’t enough Essex it also home to its very one reality TV stars thanks to the increasingly popular ITV show The Only Way Is Essex.
